Our class piano lessons are a fun, supportive, collaborative and educational experience for children ranging from 6 to 17 years old, beginner to intermediate.
Why Class Piano Lessons?
At Music Lessons Arizona we believe the most rewarding part of music is playing with others. Our piano students are more motivated, practice more at home, improve more rapidly, are proud of their accomplishments and ultimately have more fun, because they are a part of our musical community.
If you’re deciding between one-on-one lessons and group classes for your 5-10 year old child, let’s explore why group glasses are superior.
Most children aged 5-10 have not spent extensive one-on-one time with any adult aside from their parents or perhaps grandparents, aunts, or uncles.
For children of this age, one-on-one private lessons can quickly become boring, lose momentum, and direction.
But, when you put a child of this age in a group class with peers, magic happens.
The children feed off each others’ energy in the class, provide support, camaraderie, and accountability to one another.
In this kind of environment, musical learning flourishes!

Music Lessons Enhance Your Child’s Language Skills
According to an article in Time Magazine and scientific studies by John Gabrieli, a cognitive neuroscientist at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s McGovern Institute for Brain Research, there is evidence that early exposure to piano practice enhances the processing of sounds that extend not only from music, but also into language.
Gabrieli explains that kids’ ears become trained to distinguish between different pitches and tones at the piano and they also seem to get better at parsing subtle differences between spoken words, a key element of language acquisition.
How does the class work?
Class piano is a combination of group interaction and learning. The class is conducted by a lead instructor an accompanied by at least one assistant at all times.
Each student is provided a high quality Yamaha digital piano, headphones, binder with class materials, sheet music and more. We keep our classes small so we can provide the best service and attention to our students. There are a maximum of 8 students per class.
Students learn together as a group, play pieces together as an ensemble and utilize headphones during their independent practice.
During each class students participate in group activities, practice musical pieces, work on reading standard music notation and learn about music history and it's famous classical composers. At the end of each class students perform a piece they have been working on for one another which helps build their confidence and allow them to feel proud of their accomplishments.
"My husband and I are so happy that we found Music Lessons Arizona. Apart from Ms. Sherin’s highly impressive resume, we were drawn to her because she has good rapport with my kids. I have two daughters in Ms. Sherin’s class and both of them have been really loving her style of teaching. My older one likes how Ms. Sherin plays duet with them, it makes playing the piano so much fun. She is an introvert and often gets intimated playing in front of other people but she is getting more and more accustomed to performing since they do it every week in class. My younger one has also commented that she likes how Ms. Sherin has a very positive approach when she makes mistakes. She never feels that she’s in trouble or that she’s forced to learn everything at once. I can say that although we’re just a few months in but I have seen a tremendous improvement in how they both play. All in all, our experience has been absolutely wonderful. It was a blessing in disguise that our old piano teacher was moving locations that led us to discover Music Lessons Arizona. Couldn’t be happier!"
